KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd will be awarding remaining three main work packages valued at about RM2 billion to RM2.5 billion for the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) project only to local companies.

 

President and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Azmi Abdul Aziz said it will announce the successful tenderer by end of August this year.

"How it works is that companies will go through a bidding process and we will evaluate from there. But the remaining work packages are strictly for local companies," he told a press conference here today.

"There are also other smaller work packages to be announced soon," he added.

The RM1.56 billion work packages for the supply of light rail vehicles for the LRT3 project was awarded to a consortium of CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co Ltd, Siemens Ltd China Tegap Dinamik Sdn Bhd.
